Some Signs and Symptoms of a Pinched Nerve in Your Pet
Remember, the
definition of a subluxation, when a spinal vertebra loses their normal position or motion, causing pinching of a spinal nerve
resulting in pain and/or altered health.
*Please note that there are many other disease processes that can exhibit
these same symptoms as a spinal subluxation and should be thoroughly evaluated by your veterinarian if any of these symptoms
present themselves.
The following symptoms can be caused by spinal subluxation (pinched nerve) of the cervical,
thoracic, or lumbar spine:
1. head is held lower than normal
2. tail off center
3. tail now wagging
off center
4. yelps with pain upon certain movements
5. difficulty going up or down steps
6. resists or
refuses to jump
7. short stepping with one or both rear legs
8. uneven weight bearing (favoring one side)
9. partial paralysis of front or back legs
10. knuckles paw when stepping (walks on back of hand and not the paw)
11. drags toes
12. prefers to sit on only one side of the rear end
13. difficulty squatting or lifting leg
to urinate
14. difficulty squatting to defecate
15. incontinence of bowel or bladder
16. hot spots (due
to nerve pressure causing a continual pain or itch in that area)
17. muscle atrophy (muscle looses its mass due to lack
of nerve impulses)
18. uneven gait
19. any negative changes in behavior 20. aversion to the leash
21. decrease in appetite and play activity 22. tail held between legs and ears down
